Committee Xmas News Letter Dec 06

Avē,

Me again - it's cos I get lumped with all the werk !

This is Not to wish you a Merry Xmas but so that when you sober up from the parties and look at next year's diary you'll be able to mark in it that the AMSANZ conference next year is in AUGUST -

So - AMSANZ conference - Queenstown - August 15th - 19th 2007

The reason for this is so that we can combine again with NZ ANZSOM who are hosting the Australian branch of ANZSOM also, so it promises to be a bigger hooley than ever.

For those AMSANZ scrooges who can only take 3 days off, we'll have all the AMSANZ stuff, including CAA day, on the Friday 17th, Saturday & Sunday morning. This might well include Friday dinner at Skyline restaurant, Saturday AGM & combined societies dinner at the Millennium Hotel Queenstown, finish with lunch on Sunday and flights out begin at 2pm. We have a cunning plan to prevent either Bill Daniels or Edwin Whiteside from speaking at the dinner !

All registration and hotel bookings will be made online from the AMSANZ website this year and this should be available from March 2007.

However, travel will be your own responsibility.

For those who want more excitement we're planning a trip to the Manapouri power station on the Wednesday & on the Thursday there'll be a full range of trips including practising skiing accidents, an Earnslaw trip to the Walter Peak Station, a golf tournament at Millbrook, wine tasting & maybe the odd impromptu lecture over lunch or dinner.

Queenstown is bone-chillingly cold at that time of year so don't feel guilty about taking in a few extra calories this Xmas.

In other news for Xmas -

A small (optimistic) society delegation attended another of Rob Griffiths'
weddings on December 9th - this one to blond bombshell Judge Carrie Wainwright from the Maori Land Court. All their children behaved themselves very well on the marae at Turangi !

Our congratulations to Tim Rumball (Gold Medal), Sara Souter & Pooshan Navathe who all passed the FAFOM exams in September. Sara is due to produce another child just after Xmas so best wishes to her & Tim that all goes well.

And a welcome to Russell Kilvington, the new Director at CAA.

And - don't miss Casino Royale - even if the weather comes right !

OK - NOW you can have a Happy Xmas & get into those gift bottles of wine & sort through the free calendars.

See you next year & best wishes to all.
